Objective
Build fast recall, sharp listening, and the ability to connect movements to numbers.
Kids learn to stay relaxed, listen carefully, switch between techniques quickly, and perform sequences in the correct order.
Equipment Needed
- Floor dots or cones arranged in a circle
- Open space in the middle for instructor demonstration
Setup
Kids stand on dots around the circle.
Explain:
“Each number is a move. When I call the numbers, you perform the moves in order.”
Number Assignments
1 = Palm strike
2 = Front kick
3 = Hammer strike
4 = Push + “Stay back”
(You can adjust these or add more later.)
Drill Breakdown
1. Fighting Stance Command
Before any number or sequence, always call:
“Fighting stance.”
Kids pop into stance before performing the moves.
2. Teaching Each Number in Isolation
Call one number at a time so kids learn the associations clearly.
Examples:
“1” – palm strike
“2” – front kick
“3” – hammer strike
“4” – push + “Stay back”
Repeat until everyone understands.
3. Explain Copying
Tell the kids:
“Younger kids often copy each other. That’s okay at the beginning. You can look around and learn from others.”
After a few rounds:
“Now try to do it without copying. Use your own brain.”
This gently transitions them from imitation to memory.
4. Relaxation: Washing Machine Drill
Teach them to shake off tension by loosening arms, legs, shoulders, everything.
On command “Washing machine”, they relax completely.
Then call “Fighting stance” to reset focus before new sequences.
5. Simple Number Chains
Start with short sequences.
Examples:
“1–2”
“3–4”
“2–3–1”
Keep it playful but clear.
6. Intermediate Sequences
Once the group is comfortable, increase complexity.
Examples:
“3–1–4”
“2–2–3–1”
“4–1–3–2”
Instructor is free to invent combinations on the spot.
7. Final Challenge: Eyes Closed Round
Tell the kids:
“Now we test your memory properly. Close your eyes.”
Call sequences while they keep eyes shut.
This prevents copying and forces real recall.
Keep the sequences short and safe.
Safety Rule
If any child falls or loses balance, the others stop and help them.
No stepping around or over someone on the floor.
Coaching Points
- Stand in the middle so you can see everyone.
- Encourage listening over guessing.
- Remind them to stay calm and not rush.
- Reset with washing machine drill if they get too stiff.
- Praise effort and good memory, not just speed.
