Objective
Build confidence and participation by letting kids lead short fitness exercises. Helps with loud counting, discipline, and following instructions.
Setup
Kids stand in a semicircle or lines.
Instructor chooses one child to stand at the front as the Leader.
Drill Breakdown
- Instructor chooses the exercise (e.g., 10 jumping jacks).
- Leader performs and counts the exercise.
- Group copies the Leader.
- Rotate Leaders quickly so everyone gets a turn.
- Keep pace high and transitions fast.
Progressions
- Increase reps.
- Leader performs two exercises back-to-back.
- Add stance transitions before starting each set.
Variations
- Silent Leader: group must copy without counting or sound.
- Mirror Mode: group mirrors the Leader’s movements.
- Captain’s Choice: Leader chooses the exercise (pre-approved).
Coaching Points
- Encourage strong counting.
- Praise confidence, not perfection.
- Keep rotations fast.
